Clergy Appreciation Month & Sports Nuts Favorite Time Of Year

Hard to believe it's October already.  I love this time of year, and if you're interested in any sports, this is the time of year you long for.  All of the major pro sports are either in full swing, gearing up, or, in the case of baseball, into playoffs.

And in honor of the NY Yankees making the playoffs, AGAIN, I've changed my ringtone:

That's Yankees radio announcer John Sterling.  I think we're going to here him say that quite a few times through October.

October is also Clergy Appreciation Month.  We encourage you to make a special point this month of thanking your pastor and all of those who work so tirelessly in our churches.  Every Friday in October we're going to open the phone lines and the comment section of the J93.3 Face Book page to allow you to brag on your pastor and church staff.

Having grown up a PK (that's Preacher's Kid) and serving as pastor at a little country church while attending seminary, I know how tough the job can be.  One year while my dad was serving a church in New Jersey some of the ladies got together and did a "Queen for a Day" kind of event for my mom.  It really lifted her spirits, and my dad's, knowing that people appreciated the sacrifices they both made to serve the Lord in that way.
