We took some phone calls and got some Face Book comments today on how you show your appreciation for your pastor. (You can still join this discussion on the J93.3 Face Book page.) A number of the comments mentioned food, like gift cards to restaurants or coffee shops or baking something special for the pastor.
The folks at Focus on the Family (who started the whole Clergy Appreciation Month) have a number of other ideas at their website
here. A couple of good ones include
- A "thank you flash mob" where groups of people stand up during a worship service and shout things like "We love you pastor!"
- A "super text event" where on a specific day people from your church text the pastor every hour with a message of thanks. Just make sure your pastor has the unlimited texting plan or this could wind up costing him big time.
- Create a video scrapbook highlighting your pastor's ministry, co-workers and congregation.
